in a (monu)mental and epic competition on the mighty salza river nülle and bumblebijan take first place in the team competition, capture 2nd and 3rd rank in the individual race and gloriously fail to do any damage whatsoever in the head-to-head race!on easter weekend the river salza in styria (austria, not middle east!) was the location of several competitions, organized and set up by mister IRF (gaspar) and mister SRT (neil), always helped and aided by mr. salza (bernard the riverslider).
the 3 competitions were:
-individual guide race: one dude makes a z-drag, runs a bit, stuffs and throws a bag, swims a bit, swims a bit more, jumps into a big raft, paddles a likkle one, swims some more, does some swimming over a strainer, does some more running and then ties a knot and downs a red bull. see how fast you can go.
two paddlers in a likkle raft try to be as fast as the hungarian national team guys. yes, they are huge. and no, no chance in hell you can beat the buggers once someone has shown them the line.
-team rescue race
lots of victims in the river and around it, some still alive, uncooperative and likely to run away into the bushes. see how fast you can get them all on one side of the river without theoretically killing yourself, your mate or your victims-to-be-rescued. and do it fast. do it without using more than 7 ropes tied around the slalom-gate-wires, and you got a chance. do it in a team of two faster than the rest and fall on your face, you look silly in the process, but you still get a prize. nice!
after all was done the prizegiving took place in the river; goodies were dished out from HF, red bull and WTC. this was really appreciated by us, since we got a good deal of them..hehe..
